Life Coaching FAQs UK

Looking for clear answers about life coaching in the UK? ACSIS Life Coaching provides online coaching for individuals, serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans, leaders, teams and organisations. Here you can find practical answers about how coaching works, costs, confidentiality, session numbers, military transition and choosing the right coach.

About Life Coaching

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is a collaborative, future-focused process that creates space to think clearly about where you are, what matters and what you want to change. A coach uses questions, reflection and practical tools to help you explore options, make decisions and take meaningful action.

At ACSIS, coaching is human-led and evidence-informed. We do not tell you how to live your life. We help you create the conditions for better thinking so you can find your own clarity and direction.

What does a life coach help with?

People use life coaching for many different reasons, including career change, confidence, identity, leadership, relationships, life transitions, decision-making and finding greater purpose or direction.

You do not need to arrive with a perfectly defined goal. Sometimes coaching begins simply because you know something needs to change but you are not yet sure what.

What happens during a life coaching session?

Every session is different because the conversation is shaped around you. You and your coach agree a focus, explore what is happening, identify patterns or options and decide what, if anything, you want to take forward.

A coaching session is not a lecture or a set of instructions. Your coach listens, asks questions, offers appropriate challenge and creates space for you to think.

What is the difference between life coaching and therapy?

Coaching and therapy can both create valuable space for reflection, but they have different purposes. Coaching is generally future-focused and centred on goals, choices, behaviour and moving forward. Therapy may involve working with mental health conditions, emotional distress, trauma or past experiences in greater depth.

Coaching is not a replacement for counselling, psychotherapy, medical care or mental health treatment. If another form of support appears more appropriate, ACSIS will say so.

How is coaching different from mentoring or consulting?

A mentor or consultant will often draw on their expertise to recommend a particular approach or solution. Coaching is different because the aim is not to provide all the answers for you.

Your coach may bring substantial leadership, military or organisational experience into the room, but coaching focuses on helping you think more clearly, explore your own options and make decisions that fit you.

Working With ACSIS

Who does ACSIS Life Coaching work with?

ACSIS works with individuals, professionals, leaders, serving Armed Forces personnel, service leavers, veterans, teams and organisations across the UK.

We are veteran-founded and military-informed, but you do not need a military background to work with us.

Do I need to be in the military to work with ACSIS?

No. Our military experience shapes how we understand leadership, transition, pressure and change, but ACSIS coaching is open to civilians as well as the Armed Forces community.

We work with people from a wide range of backgrounds who want greater clarity, confidence, direction or support through change.

Does ACSIS offer military and veteran coaching?

Yes. ACSIS supports serving personnel, service leavers and veterans across different stages of military life and transition.

Coaching can explore areas such as career decisions, preparing to leave service, identity after the military, civilian transition, confidence, leadership, relationships, purpose and life after service.

Where are ACSIS coaching sessions held?

Most individual ACSIS coaching is delivered online, making it accessible across the UK. In-person coaching, facilitation and organisational work may also be available for specific programmes, projects or locations by agreement.

Is life coaching confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is fundamental to the coaching relationship. Your coach will explain the boundaries of confidentiality before you begin, including the limited circumstances where action may be required because of serious risk or a legal obligation.

For organisational or Defence-funded programmes, any wider reporting should follow the confidentiality arrangements agreed for that programme.

Life Coaching Costs and Sessions

How much does life coaching cost at ACSIS?

ACSIS currently offers a free 30-minute Clarity Call, individual 60-minute coaching sessions from £69.99, a four-session package for £259.99, and an eight-session package for £499.99.

Current prices and available packages can always be checked on the ACSIS booking page before you book.

How many life coaching sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number of sessions that works for everyone. Some people use a small number of sessions for a specific decision or transition, while others work with a coach over a longer period.

ACSIS currently offers single sessions and four or eight-session packages. During your free Clarity Call, you can discuss what you want from coaching and decide what approach makes sense for you.

Does ACSIS offer discounts for military personnel, veterans or public servants?

ACSIS offers selected discounts and funded coaching opportunities for eligible members of the Armed Forces community and other groups.

Eligibility and terms can vary, so check the current booking information or contact ACSIS before booking. Email: contact@acsis.co.uk to find out more.

Starting Coaching

What is the free ACSIS Clarity Call?

The Clarity Call is a free 30-minute conversation before you commit to paid coaching. It gives you space to explain what is happening, ask questions, understand how ACSIS works and decide whether coaching feels right for you.

You can also use the call to consider which ACSIS coach may be the best fit.

What if I am not sure whether coaching is right for me?

You do not need to decide before speaking to us. The free Clarity Call exists partly for this reason.

You can talk through what you are looking for, ask questions and decide whether coaching, another type of support or simply some more time to think is the right next step.

How do I choose the right ACSIS coach?

Start with the coach’s experience, areas of focus and approach. Sam Kinsey-Briggs MBE, Lloyd Allen and Simon Kelly bring different professional and leadership backgrounds, while sharing the ACSIS approach of Clarity, Courage and Connection.

If you are unsure, book a free Clarity Call and ACSIS can help you consider which coach may be the best fit.

How do I get started with ACSIS Life Coaching?

Start with a free 30-minute Clarity Call or contact ACSIS with your question. If coaching feels like the right fit, you and your coach will agree the focus, frequency and length of your coaching programme.

From there, sessions are usually delivered online and reviewed as your goals or circumstances change.

Other ACSIS Coaching Options

Does ACSIS offer coaching for teams and organisations?

What is Silent Coaching?

Silent Coaching is an ACSIS approach designed for people who may think more clearly when they have space to reflect without the pressure of continuous conversation.

Instead of a traditional spoken coaching session, participants work through structured prompts in a private, low-pressure environment. It can be particularly useful for people who prefer processing internally before speaking or taking action.
